1:1 Services: Postnatal and beyond

New Mum

Having a baby is tough on your body and it needs care and time to heal. A combination of tiredness, little time and a lack of confidence in which exercises are safe, can feel overwhelming.

After getting your all clear at the 6 week Doctor’s check, or 10 week if you have had a C-section, I can help you to gently start to reintroduce exercise

If you are still having pelvic floor issues after this time it is worth getting checked by a women’s health physiotherapist. Please contact me for recommendations.

These 1:1 sessions are aimed at getting you feeling strong and healthy. The emphasis is on making sure your body is functional for your daily life and less about the pressures of ‘bouncing back’. I look to support you with a holistic approach taking into account your nutritional needs and lifestyle. I will check your posture, work on connecting your breathing, core and pelvic floor and then go from there.

Older children

You may not consider yourself postnatal as your children are no longer babies. However, if you have had children I believe you will always be postnatal.

You may feel it’s time to reconnect with your body and want to stop putting yourself towards the bottom of the list of priorities.

Posture changes when carrying a baby and creates imbalances in your body. This can lead to aches and pains for years later if not addressed. A weakened core and pelvic floor can cause many women to have ‘oops’ moments when sneezing, coughing or on a trampoline. Although common this does not have to be normal.

Back ache can also be a symptom of a weakened pelvic floor. I can work with you to go deeper and strengthen from the inside out, reconnecting you with your core.

Finding time and motivation can be really tricky when taking care of others, there are always jobs to do! Having a specific time in the diary each week to exercise encourages you to become accountable for your own health and wellness, and more likely to do it. I can help you to overcome barriers you may be facing with exercise and set you on your way to feeling like a strong mother.

What to expect within the sessions

A postural assessment and a diastasis (tummy gap) check.

If there is a cause for concern I will refer you on to a women’s health physiotherapist.

We release any tight areas caused by the change in posture and begin integrating your breathing and core with your pelvic floor.

I then create a personalised programme to get your body functional and strong for your daily life using body weight exercises, resistance bands and weights.

I can also provide nutritional guidance aimed at optimal recovery and healing after birth.
